Every year it happens. In the lull of late August I dig my toes in the sand and wish for never-ending summer. Then new looks catch my eye: cognac suede leggings, a charmeuse blouse wrapped in strips of leather, enveloping chunky sweaters, a lace-up bootie. Fashion shows and festivals fill up the calendar. And one day a cool wind slices through the humidity and prompts me to dust off my leopard calfskin pumps, switch to gleaming gold coffee cups, sharpen my pencils and get back to projects put on hold. Maybe the back to school ritual never leaves, no matter how old you are. January may start the calendar but September offers a second chance at something fresh. Are you ready?
