Champagne bars tucked behind towering stacks, black lacquer walls accented with vermillion, Persian carpets, window seats piled with pillows. Should you ever find yourself in Asheville, North Carolina, head up to Grove Arcade and through the doors of Battery Park Book Exchange & Champagne Bar, select a glass of wine or a flute of bubbly and ramble a warren of rooms, traveling a 2000 square foot journey from Cooking through Fiction through Art. Or settle into a leather sofa with an out-of-print find, pup beside you (dogs are welcome), order a cheese tray and spend the day in what has to be the most glamorous used book store in the world. Their motto is "Trading Books by the Thousands and Wines By the Glass" and one wonders why this gem does not exist in every city. Such a great example of how a bit of thought and style can elevate any experience.
