Sometimes on a hot summer night the best plan involves icy cold cocktails in an inky dark bar.  Here are a few such spots to chill out in around the country, as recommended by Style Maniac readers.

In Chicago, Beth recommends The Aviary , where cocktail chefs create stunning gourmet surprises.

Cassidy and Susan enjoy the hand-crafted concoctions of Sazerac in Asheville.

Elena (proprietor of our fave shoe store Bus Stop Boutique) sips at modern speakeasy Franklin Mortgage & Investment Company in Philadelphia.

Merchant is the new, cool kid on the cocktail scene in Madison, reports Susan of Glossing Over It. "They use local and seasonal ingredients whenever possible, and every glass is a liquid work of art. Their bartenders take such pride in their creations that their names are listed next to their signature drink on the menu. And, of course, they serve classic cocktails, too. I think a Caipirinha might be calling my name on this scorching summer night!"
