Punjammies & Princesses

These pretty pajamas caught my eye while scrolling through my Tumblr feed.  What they represent is even more beautiful.  Part of the International Princess Project, Punjammies are crafted in India by women rescued, released or escaped from forced prostitution.  Proceeds from the sale of the garments provide fair trade wages, savings accounts, emotional and medical support, and ultimately a way for the women to support themselves and begin a new life, one in which they recognize their worth not as a commodity but as a person, not as a slave ... but as a princess.

Made from Indian sari fabrics, Punjammies run about $35 and can be purchased through the online store of the International Princess Project.  First spied on Teardrops On White Roses.
