FALL INSPIRATION: Diane von Furstenberg

After swimming through magazines and surfing through websites, not much caught my eye.  Then I came upon this image from the Neiman Marcus October Lookbook.  Color blocking is a hot trend for fall, but one that screamed bad 80s to me.  Until I saw how Diane von Furstenberg does it:  rich fabrics, deep vivid colors and then that pop of surprise -- rust boots with a berry pink top.  Now, I may never buy this ensemble.  For one, I can't afford head-to-toe DVF.  For another, long skirts are not my friend.  But that gorgeous mix of colors might influence a lipstick choice, might inspire one or two new purchases to freshen up my look, might encourage me to think outside my usual color combinations and mix up existing pieces in my closet in an entirely new way. That's the kind of fashion inspiration I love.
